On tour

Group size, fitness & what to bring

All tours are small-group, join-in tours with a maximum of 8 guests. Bookings are on a non-exclusive, shared basis — you may be travelling alongside other guests unless you book a private tour.
Our tours involve gentle-to-moderate walking on grass, gravel paths and occasionally uneven battlefield ground — including preserved trenches and cemeteries. Most guests of all ages and mobility levels manage comfortably at a relaxed pace, and Joe is happy to adjust the walking pace or route. If you have specific mobility concerns, let us know when booking and we'll help you plan accordingly.
Comfortable, weatherproof walking shoes are essential — much of the ground is grass or gravel and can be uneven or wet. Dress in layers for changeable weather, and bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle in warmer months. A camera or phone for photographs is always welcome.
All Heroes and Heritage Tours are conducted in English.
Yes. Itineraries may also be varied based on the wishes and consensus of the guests travelling on any particular day. Contact us to arrange a private or fully customised tour.
Logistics

Departure, pricing & what's included

All tours are based in Arras — the historic heart of Canada's war on the Western Front, and just 45 minutes from Paris by train. We provide pick-up and drop-off at Arras Train Station or your Arras accommodation. We're happy to recommend hotels and guest houses our clients have stayed at.
Every tour includes an expert, English-speaking Western Front guide; a comfortable, air-conditioned 8/9 seat mini bus; pick-up and drop-off at Arras Train Station or your Arras accommodation; and all entry fees. On multi-day tours, accommodation and meals are not included.
All Heroes and Heritage Tours prices are quoted in CAD (Canadian Dollars).
Yes. All guests must have valid, comprehensive travel insurance at the time of the tour and should carry emergency contact information at all times. Anyone legally required to carry a passport must carry it during any tour.
