Based in historic Arras, The Ultimate combines our Vimy Ridge & The Somme, Flanders Fields & Passchendaele and Canada’s Hundred Days tours into one comprehensive journey through the battlefields that shaped Canada during the First World War.
Walk preserved trenches on the Somme and Vimy Ridge, follow Canadian soldiers through the mud of Passchendaele and trace the Canadian Corps east from Arras toward Cambrai during the victorious Hundred Days of 1918. From Beaumont-Hamel and Courcelette to Tyne Cot, Bourlon Wood and the Canal du Nord, personal stories, battlefield landscapes, memorials and museums bring three years of Canadian fighting on the Western Front to life.
Saturday / Monday Departures
This sequence follows the Saturday departure schedule. Tours departing on Monday follow a different order: Canada’s Hundred Days, Vimy Ridge & The Somme, then Flanders Fields & Passchendaele.
Follow the Canadian and Newfoundland experience from the Somme battlefields of 1916 to the heights of Vimy Ridge in 1917.
Day 1: Vimy Ridge & The Somme
- Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and preserved First World War trenches
- Courcelette Canadian battlefield and ADANAC Military Cemetery
- Lunch in Auchonvillers and the ruined abbey towers of Mont-Saint-Éloi
- Vimy Ridge, Canadian National Vimy Memorial and Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery
Departure: Arras, 9:00 AMReturn: Arras, approx. 5:00 PM
Travel north into Belgium and follow the Canadian story through the Ypres Salient to the battlefields of Passchendaele.
Day 2: Flanders Fields & Passchendaele
- German frontline trenches at Vimy Ridge and Hill 70 Canadian Memorial
- Christmas Truce battlefield and Essex Farm Advanced Dressing Station
- Lunch in historic Ypres and Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917
- Tyne Cot Cemetery, Passchendaele battlefield and Crest Farm Canadian Memorial

Follow the Canadian Corps from Arras toward Cambrai during the final and most successful offensive of the First World War.
Day 3: Canada’s Hundred Days
- Arras Memorial, Carrière Wellington and Monchy-le-Preux Newfoundland Memorial
- Seven Canadian Victoria Crosses Memorial and the Drocourt-Quéant battlefield
- Bourlon Wood Canadian Memorial, Canal du Nord and lunch in Cambrai
- Masnières Newfoundland Memorial and Cambrai Tank 1917 Museum

Accommodation and meals are not included. Tour itineraries may be adjusted to accommodate museum opening times, traffic, commemorative events, site accessibility or the interests of guests travelling on the day. Private and customised battlefield tours are also available on request.
